In 2014, I enrolled in the Psychology BSc. program at Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen, unaware of the profound impact this decision would have on both my life and that of my family. My motivation for studying Psychology stemmed from a deep-seated curiosity about the neurological mechanisms of the human brain and the processes underlying our daily decision-making.
Although I never envisioned myself pursuing a career in clinical practice or laboratory research, my aspiration was to pursue a Marketing MSc. and eventually assume the role of an art or creative director within an advertising agency.
However, destiny had other plans in store for me. In a serendipitous turn of events, my father, who had been a barber for 25 years at that time, approached me with a proposition to open a new store. Seizing this opportunity, I proposed to conceptualize the venture, doing everything from brand identity to interior design. With his blessing, I delved headfirst into the realm of design, immersing myself in learning Adobe software and transforming ideas into tangible realities.
Our inaugural store's success paved the way for another opportunity in 2018, affirming my conviction that ‘thinking things into existence’ is my true calling.
Today, my father, brother, and uncle are all part of our team, working together in our two branches. Without Hagi's, I wouldn't be pursuing design as I am now.
